A close, hard fought game with John, tonight! Fun game! We played the the Scavenge Supplies mission of Killzone Munitorum. Command re-rolls were not kind tonight, I don’t believe that either one of us converted more than 1 re-roll all night. Came down to the last shots of the game. John controlled 3 for 7VPs objectives and I controlled 2 for 6VPs. I took my Comms specialist out to contest the objective at the top of the last turn 4 and he brought one tactical marine out to retake it. So, in the shooting phase I needed to shoot his Reiver of the objective which I was able to with 4 shots from my Sniper Specialist. But my Demolitions guy was unable to take out the tactical marine, which in turn took out my Comm specialist with his last Readied model. I was down to my Leader and Pathfinder with the Ion Rifle. The pathfinder failed to wound him. But my Leader hit with 2 6+ shots from his burst cannon. Only 1 wounded…. but the tactical failed his save by 1. Command re-roll did not convert (neither one of us were too surprised)! The injury roll takes him out of action and off that objective. The Imperium has one chance and that is if the game continues. I had initiative so I rolled – my dice came through with a 1 and the game ended. T’au win 6 – 4.
D6 Organized Play – 2nd Round – Game 2
Tony and my game went down the wire, at the end of turn 5 he rolled a 2 to end the game. The T’au couldn’t wound at all turn 1, but we did manage to get it working after Tony’s Sniper Missile Marine took out my Level 3 Sniper. I think that my team was in coast mode waiting for the super start Sniper to kill everyone, boy did they kick it into gear when he went out. Heroes of the T’au Pathfinder Shas’la Xo’yima and Demolitions Specialist Pathfinder Gunner Tsu’len stood their ground for 2 complete melee turns against the gue’ron’sha Combat Specialist! Tsu’len also took out the enemy leader the shortly before falling back to maintain the Supply Objective; that is where they made their heroic stand in melee. The battle ended with the T’au holding 4 VP worth of objectives and the gue’ron’sha space marines only 1 VP.
D6 Organized Play – 2nd Round – Game 1
I finally got to play one of the other Killzones for tonight’s D6 Organized Play game. We played Sector Mechanicus Killzone’s Burning Battlefield mission. Turned out that the special rules Flame Under Foot and Perilous Riches didn’t come into play. My 2nd Level Sniper seriously pulled is weight with 3 “kills”, my 2nd level Demolitions managed to get 1 kill before being taken off the board with a brutal shot from my opponent’s Plauge Marine Demolition specialist. I think that my opponent’s dice were channeling me and mine were being especially well behaved. I managed to take out 5 of his Plague Marines and he rolled 3 1’s in a row on the Casualty table for two of his marines and a pox walker. Sorry Charlie. My Demolitions Pathfinder rolled a 2 so he will be out the next mission.
He did have one amazing round where I hit him with two Railgun rounds, by rights he should have been pink mist…. well, not sure a plague marine’s mist would be pink. He pulled one 6+ save. I hit him with 3 damage and he promptly made 3 5+ Disgustingly Resilient rolls! It was amazing!
It was a fun game, and yes, I didn’t take any pictures. I suck at that.
I almost forgot to mention that Charlie had an amazing round where I hit him with two Railgun rounds, by rights he should have been pink mist…. well, not sure a plague marine’s mist would be pink. He pulled one 6+ save. I hit him with 3 damage and he promptly made 3 5+ Disgustingly Resilient rolls! It was amazing!

Shadow War Espandor Campaign on Hold
We are delaying the actual start up of the Shadow War/40K campaign while we wait to see what the rumored release of the new Kill Team is like. Kyle at the local game store pointed out that on the bottom of the the Shadow War: Armageddon counters, in small print, it said Shadow War: Armageddon Kill Team. So there is a possibility that the new Kill Team looks more like Shadow War then the 7th edition Kill Team. We can only hope.
Shadow War: Damoclese Gulf Rules
I ran across a post discussing the new GW Kill Team announcement where
WiP – Toxic Ooze Puddles
Here are some toxic ooze puddles that can be used as impassable terrain for Shadow War, but could be used in any Warhammer 40K game. Now I need to create some broken pipe and make some green stuff partial barrels to “float” in there too. For scale there is a Dire Avenger Exarch in the center.
WiP – Second Set of SW Terrain
Started to work on my second set of Shadow War: Armageddon terrain this morning. Didn’t have much time since we had to be in the Cities for an Early Halloween party, but I didn’t manage to get most of the large pieces cut out, cleaned up, and glued. This set I will magnetize to see how much work it will be and if it really works well enough to justify the time and magnets. If it really works well I will go back and magnetize the first set.
