D6 Organized Play – 2nd Round – Game 1

I finally got to play one of the other Killzones for tonight’s D6 Organized Play game. We played Sector Mechanicus Killzone’s Burning Battlefield mission. Turned out that the special rules Flame Under Foot and Perilous Riches didn’t come into play. My 2nd Level Sniper seriously pulled is weight with 3 “kills”, my 2nd level Demolitions managed to get 1 kill before being taken off the board with a brutal shot from my opponent’s Plauge Marine Demolition specialist. I think that my opponent’s dice were channeling me and mine were being especially well behaved. I managed to take out 5 of his Plague Marines and he rolled 3 1’s in a row on the Casualty table for two of his marines and a pox walker. Sorry Charlie. My Demolitions Pathfinder rolled a 2 so he will be out the next mission.

He did have one amazing round where I hit him with two Railgun rounds, by rights he should have been pink mist…. well, not sure a plague marine’s mist would be pink. He pulled one 6+ save. I hit him with 3 damage and he promptly made 3 5+ Disgustingly Resilient rolls! It was amazing!

It was a fun game, and yes, I didn’t take any pictures. I suck at that.

I almost forgot to mention that Charlie had an amazing round where I hit him with two Railgun rounds, by rights he should have been pink mist…. well, not sure a plague marine’s mist would be pink. He pulled one 6+ save. I hit him with 3 damage and he promptly made 3 5+ Disgustingly Resilient rolls! It was amazing!

Shadow War Espandor Campaign on Hold

We are delaying the actual start up of the Shadow War/40K campaign while we wait to see what the rumored release of the new Kill Team is like. Kyle at the local game store pointed out that on the bottom of the the Shadow War: Armageddon counters, in small print, it said Shadow War: Armageddon Kill Team. So there is a possibility that the new Kill Team looks more like Shadow War then the 7th edition Kill Team. We can only hope.

WiP – Espandor Team Tau

I am nearly done with my Tau team for the test run of the Espandor Shadow War / 40K campaign that I am running with Bob. I just need to paint some of the magnetized weapons and possibly the 3rd Recon Drone. I have 3 of the Pathfinders magnetized with two Rail Rifles, a Pulse Pistol, Pulse Carbine, and an Ion Rifle. I also have 2 Recon Drones painted and one assembled in case I want to go with all Recon Drones. I am still debating whether to use the Pulse Accelerator Drone though. To the right are the Special Operatives: Ethereal, Cadre Fireblade, and an XV25 Stealth Suit.

New Shadow War / 40K Campaign Test Run

My idea for the next campaign is to combine Shadow War: Armageddon games with Warhammer 40K games. The campaign will be based on Espandor in the realm of Ultramar. This is in the far Eastern reaches of Ultramar and is near the Konor system where there was a massive battle between the forces of Chaos and the Imperium.

Each player will play one race/faction for both their Shadow War and 40K games. For example, the Dark Angles will put together a team of Space Marine Scouts for their Shadow War special reconn/special forces team, while they use their other models for their regular 40K games. This means that a player cannot play Harlequins for Shadow War an then play Tau for their 40K games.

The 40K portion of the campaign will be an escalating campaign starting with a Combat Patrol Detachment for mission 1. The army construction rules will be the same as the Renegade Mission Packet 1.0.4 except that we will start with 500 points.

Tonight I need to look through the SW:A missions and the 40K missions in the BRB. I also have plenty of the psuedo-narrative missions from the Burning Dawn/Shadow Force Solaq/Battle for MacCragge Supplements.

Space Marine Scouts – EH1

Scouts vs Harlequins, all the Harlequins have to do to tie in the campaign is win, roll at least a 2 for prmethium AND win the second game.

With Collino out and the Scouts at full force, plus a Terminator Special Operative, the Harlequins lost on the mission roll; I rolled kill team allowing the Scouts to bring their entire squad, 10 Scouts + Terminator Spec Op. My leader was out leaving me with 5 guys. The shear weight of numbers took me down to 1 guy before failing a bottle test.

I played as carefully as possible but the Scouts managed to take out my Specialist in the second turn. Eventually I managed to take 3 of his guys out / down. He made his two bottle checks and I failed my 4th or 5th to lose. To add insult to injury, my best Specialist died and I lost one guy to a head wound. The fun thing was thing was that Charlie fired into close combat with his heavy gunner and fired 5 shots. 4 requiring ammo checked (all passed) but 4 of them it his own guy. Thinking that he couldn’t do worse he fired the other heavy gunner in. Hit his guy 3 more times and me once, it wasn’t until his sniper shot in that he too that he put me down.

I had to spend the promethium just to recruit a
nothe player.

Game 2 Charlie rolled….. yep, you guessed it – Kill team
This game went a little better, I managed t get in to close combat in round and take out his heavy weapons guys. My Leader consolidated into another guy, but Charlie charged all of his remaining marines. Leaving my leader surrounded by 5 marines ( only because battlefield terrain prevented the 6th). My leader managed to kill 4 guys before being slain. But Charlie failed his bottle test and I won.

Hive Has Been Conquered – EH1

Announcement from Everything Hobby:

So the Hive’s been conquered, but the battle isn’t over!
This week will mark the end of this campaign, but you can recruit members of your current kill team for the next campaign if you choose the same faction, so give it your all and don’t let those advancements go to waste! There will be a short break of a couple weeks following the completion of this week’s games, and then we’ll be launching another campaign right away which will be managed by Collino, who has volunteered to be our resource for organized Shadow War activities in the Rochester area.

The Collino’s Company of Harlequins, the team of Ad Mech, and the team of Necrons still have an chance to tie because they have not played their Match 5 games. So the campaign took 10 games to finish.

This makes the tactical play by Tom Z and his Nid’s last week huge since Collino’s Company could have won the campaign in the first game of Match 5 instead of only being able to tie the ‘Nids.

I guess that means that I should figure out how to move my Google Sheet to a web application of some sort. I am thinking that it should be a standalone database with WordPress plugins for front end user interface. Start small and just track the win/loss/promethium for each team, the match results, and the campaign games (opponents).

What? More Bugs! – EH1 Necrons

Match 4: Tom‘s Tyranids vs my Harlequins.

Game 1: Kill Team
The Harlequins flanked stage right with the leader and a specialist, stage left with two players, and center stage with a player ans specialist. We took sweeping to the bugs from left To right. We were able to take down the bug specialist and draw his leader into combat. His leader charged my leader and did a flesh wound to him. My two specialist charged in on the leader while the player went left and took the downed bug out. The bug leader lasted until his turn when he was taken out in close combat freeing me up to shoot at one of. His bugs. I needed to take one more guyut for an extra promethium. The laughing god denied that leaving two of his bugs with a single wound when he chose to bottle out. Both Tryranids that went out of action later died.

EDIT: Tom promoted the newly promoted new spawn to replace his leader.

Harlequins win an roll 2 promethium, Bugs spent their o1 on recruiting.

Game 2: Scavanege
Harlequins managed to grab 4 of the 6 loot counters in their half of the first. The Nids took my leader out of action in their first turn and claimed 2 of counters. In my second turn I managed to get 3 of the 4 into my deployment zone, but but the 4 was 1 inch out. It turns out that you have to control all of the counters in your zone at tthe begining of your turn to win. He managed to take out one of my guys so that I didn’t have contro of the 4 at the begining. With a larder ship of 9, since my leader was out I rolledbox cares to fail and lose. Leader out with a head wound other player complete recovery. No loot converted

Harlequins 1 Tryranids 3 Promethium

Total Promethium: Terry 13; Tom 10

Automated Campaign Tracking Tool

I was thinking of writing an automated campaign tracking web application designed for a multiplayer campaign that would track the players promethium and win/loss record. This would be used to either run a round robin, double elimination, or a relative strength matchups.

But before writing one I will test out Shadow War Zone app. Shadow War Zone has a great tracking system, but doesn’t appear to have a scheduling piece to it, but I will use it for the campaign that I will run with Bob, Raph, Tom, and maybe Garrett to test it out.
